The Oxbow semester is the first-step in a post-secondary school career. The Oxbow curriculum revolves around art, but the goal is to help students develop critical thinking skills, value themselves as individuals, and accept responsibility for their own creative choices—no matter what field they enter. Oxbow alumni are doctors, scientists, writers, teachers, economists, designers, artists, and so much more! Attending Oxbow gives students a significant advantage when applying to college; college visits, a summer and fall Portfolio Day, and exposure to adults with many different college and career paths enriches student's awareness of possibilities, and helps them prepare for the college application process.

While historically less than half of our alumni go on to pursue careers in art, students interested in applying to art colleges will leave Oxbow with a well documented portfolio of artwork and the ability to write and speak articulately and confidently about their work. The Director of Admissions at Oxbow specializes in art school admissions and works with students interested in applying to art school. Oxbow alumni are highly sought after by colleges of art and design.
