Project X: Part 1

03/13/17

Thanks to Maya A. and Pearl E. for this week's write up and photos:

Wowzaronis! Oxbow has flown by, it is shocking to think we’re halfway there*cue Bon Jovi*. For our “midterm” we have been assigned the secretive “Project X.” Each student is given a specific prompt that serves as a starting point for a wide range of concepts/ideas, which is a rare opportunity for some of us. Each student chooses a medium from which to base their project and from our research we create artworks that convey ideas gained in our intensive research. Students have come up with concepts such as social issues portrayed through fairy tales, police violence through sculpture, and cultural destruction through alternative photography processes.

This creates a unique environment where students can be seen painting each other during lunch, while others dress up as children for films, and the range of ideas are constant and inspiring. Everyone is doing something different and it’s awesome!!!!! Anywho, we’re making our way gradually through our classes and watching our creative peers flourish and blossom into young adulthood.
