Inside Oxbow

Four Oxbow Events in 24 Hours!

05/18/18

We kicked off the weekend with our bi-annual Parent Reception at the beautiful Saintsbury Winery and then moved right into Final Project presentations the next morning. OS38 students did an amazing job of articulating their complex artwork and the in-depth research. Family, friends, faculty, staff and board members were all impressed with the mature and sophisticated works of these young people. Many students are worried that they won't fit in at Oxbow, or their artwork won't be as "good" as their peers. Final Project is the ultimate proof that no matter what level of art experience students arrive with, by the time they leave Oxbow their work will be well thought out and beautifully executed. It's always impressive to see the students without previous art making experience, or who tried a new medium for the first time here, complete their projects to a level that goes far beyond the high school level. Keep an eye on our Gallery for OS38's artwork and writing!

After the morning presentations our campus became a buzzing hive of activity as we opened our doors to the public. Prospective students, alumni, artists, educators, neighbors and many more streamed into the studios to get a glimpse of the artwork and talk with OS38 students about their processes and Oxbow experiences.

Somehow after ALL that we managed to pull of a super successful Benefit Concert, Visiting Artist Art Sale, and farewell celebration for our Founding Director Stephen Thomas. The day came full circle from amazing student artwork and experiences to funds raised for future Ox-generations!

We thank OS38 and our large Oxbow family for such a special day!
