Moving through Painting, Digital Media, Printmaking, and Sculpture studios, campers have learned foundational processes from screenprinting to plaster casting to photograms.
In addition to technical skills, projects have asked students to think critically, imagining futures for Oxbow’s landscape, both dystopic and optimistic, and considering their personal experiences of collective history. For the latter assignment, students created animations compiling original and found footage that will be compiled on a hard drive and buried on campus in the first ever OSAC time capsule. Hiking, walks through Napa and other excursions have left plenty of time for fun beyond the studios. As we move into week two, students begin work on final projects. Can’t wait to see this group’s creations!
