Argyle by Daniele Frazier, 2010 |
Daniele Frazier completed her first outdoor public art piece as a recipient of the Socrates Sculpture Park Emerging Artist Fellowship in Queens, New York. Both the park and the fellowship were founded by sculptor Mark DiSuvero. Her piece, titled Argyle, was created in the park's outdoor studios over the summer. It stands at 16 feet tall and 10 inches wide and is constructed out of marine plywood, coated with industrial enamel, and depends on a 2-foot steel and concrete footing underground. So far, it had survived one tornado. The piece will be on view at the park, 7 days a week, until March 6, 2011 http://www.socratessculpturepark.org
